Myths about Bass Bug

1) You need heavy equip to cast
bass bugs. 5-6 weight fly rod outfit with forward tapered
floating line
2) A bug must imitate what bass
are eating. Bass are opportunistic feeders. They reflexively
attack anything that appears lifelike.
3) Color matters. Color only
matters with subsurface fly's. All that bass see with floating
bugs is white or yellow belly with twitching and wiggling that is
silhouette against the glare of the sky.
4) Big bugs catch big bass.
5) Sulky bass can be seduced,
fooled or angered into striking a bass bug. Bass eat what ever
appears edible based on their past experiences. They eat whatever
is available and easy to catch. Keep in mind that sometimes bass
will not be interested in eat anything.
6) You can't fish a bass bug too
slow.
7) Bass bugs only work in low
light. Bass do not like bright sunshine. However, as long as
shallow-water temperatures are comfortable you can catch a bass
on the surface any time of day.
